Street Festival in Winterhude

Local street festivals are usually not included in travel guides. This is the street festival Mühlenkamp in Winterhude. Winterhude is in the central part of Hamburg, sandwiched between the Alster lake and the Stadtpark (City Park). The festival was held on the Mühlenkamp street and is one of the smaller ones in Hamburg.

Typically local street festivals feature various booths by local shops, some entertainment for kids and in case of Hamburg’s street festivals, a Brazilian-themed booth. Also not unusual is a flea market connected to the festival.

I never thought that these festivals are particularly exciting. If you live near it, it’s just something to do and you’ll maybe drink and eat something. If there are music performances, it’s usually by cover bands.
